ABOUT US

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar is a voluntary association of practising Lawyers. The office bearers of Association are elected every year by way of a secret ballot and election is held by an independent election commission, the chief election commissioner takes charge of every task related to the conduct of elections before a prescribed period from the elections. The elections are conducted for the positions of

1)                 Mr.Mian Abdul Qayoom, President.
2)                 Mr.Mohammad Abdullah Pandit, Vice president
3)                 Mr.Ghulam Nabi Shaheen,Gen. Secretary
4)                 Mr.Mir Suhail , Joint secretary
5)                 Mr.Intikhab Yousuf Parray, Treasurer.

Every Member who is enrolled with the Association is entitled to vote. Every member by way of a single non transferable vote for each position participates in the election. The elected members remain in the office for a period of one year. For contesting the position of President and Vice-president a member of the Association must have a standing of 15 years as an advocate; for the position of Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer it is 7 years 2 years and 2 years respectively. The elected body nominates an Executive Council for carrying out the functions of Association and for decision making. The Association also nominates an Advisory Council for consultation over important issues

REPORT REGARDING DOODIPORA KILLINGS

Doodipora is a small village, which is 6 kms away from Handwara Town. There is only one road, which connects the village with Handwara town. There are about 70 houses in the village wherein some 600 people reside. There are two schools in the village. One Government Middle School and the other Public Model School run by the locals.

WRITINGS OF G.M. SHAKIR (ADV) .

Mr, Ghulam Mohammad Shakir (Wani), Advocate is a prominent lawyers affiliated with the J&K High Court Bar Association since 1994 and at present is a part time lecturer in department of Law University of Kashmir and is teaching Islamic Laws with preference in the department. Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Shakir Advocate is well known for his writings on religion. His comperative study on religions is acknowledged at intellectual and scholarly levels. The Bar Association is thankful to him for his writings which have earned a lot of interest at international level. The Bar Association is pleased to upload his a few writings on its website with his persmission.
